Praying With You, Vegas

The tragedy that happened in Las Vegas last night left me reeling. Fifty-nine families have lost someone precious to them, whose absence is going to leave a void that could not be filled by thinking happy thoughts, whose loss will be grieved for a very long time; because the bone-deep ache and the unfathomable pain felt by the people who love them are not going away with a few reassuring words.

I grieve with you, Vegas. May you find comfort in God's embrace even as you find your way out of this utter darkness. And as you find your loss being politicized by legislators, pundits, and lobbyists to fuel the debates on guns and mental health and criticize the administration's ineptitude in dealing with this safety crisis in our current society, may you find some quiet despite the noise, calm amidst the storm, and peace beyond comprehension.
