For Keeps

Friends who...

...might bite your head off if you call them at 3am but still pick up the phone.

...listen to you whine and rant even though you know better.

...pray with you about the most trivial things.

...would say “yes” to coffee in the middle of a hectic day.

...couldn’t care less about basketball but watch the NBA finals anyway.

...try an unfamiliar dish first for the benefit of your picky palate.

...read your blog posts even though they have better things to do.

...agree to eat ramen for the nth time in a row.

...text jokes that make you laugh out loud (or choke on your lettuce) at random moments, but usually when you're feeling a little sad.

...join a bike tour despite their amateur skills and apprehension about riding with a crowd.

...go on an unplanned long drive to buy rice cake.

...stand as a human tripod so you could capture that “incidental” photo.

...not lie about how much you’ve gained weight.

...defend you in a scuffle no matter what.

...call out your nonsense, tell you when you’re wrong, and chide you for being insensitive.

...act silly with you in the rain at the risk of catching a cold.

...pick you up from work when you’re too sick to drive home.

...watch superhero movies even when they know they’ll sleep through it.

...would walk to your favorite kosher place at lunch to buy tuna melt on your behalf because one of the servers creep you out.

...daydream with you.

...point you to God, always!

Find those friends; they are for keeps!

...are like gold.

  2. Hello Jucy. I am a Pastor from Mumbai, India. I am glad to stop by your profile on the blogger and the blog post. I am also blessed and feel privileged and honoured to get connected with you as well as know you and about your interest in friends, life , people , relationships and so on. It so interesting to go through the list of things you expect from the friends. I liked the last very much and that is "Point you to God always". I love getting connected with the people of God around the globe to be encouraged, strengthened and praying for one another. I have been in the Pastoral ministry for last 39 yrs in this great city of Mumbai a city with a great contrast where richest of rich and the poorest of poor live. We reach out to the poorest of poor with the love of Christ to bring healing to the brokenhearted. We also encourage young and the adults from the west to come to Mumbai to work with us during their vacation time. We would love to have you come to Mumbai with your other friends sitting with you shown in the blog post picture to work with us during your vacation time. I am sure you will have a life changing experience. Looking forward to hear from you very soon. God's richest blessings on you, your family and friends. My email id is: dhwankhede(at)gmail(dot)com and my name is Diwakar Wankhede.

    1. Thank you for visiting my blog, Ptr. Diwakar.

I appreciate your kind thoughts and I will remember your ministry in my prayers.

Someday when I visit India, maybe I could stop by your church.

  3. Thank you Jucy for your response to my comment on your blog post. Usually I do not browse the profile of the people whose interest in the Lord Jesus Christ but fortunately I could revisit your blog post once again just few days after I commented first. Thank you for your positive response to my invitation. I pray for such young people who show their interest in coming to Mumbai to work with us during their vacation time. I will deeply appreciate if you could use my email id for communication. I want to remain connected to be encouraged, strengthened and praying for one another. Thank you once again. Blessings from above. Pastor Diwakar.
