Choose Her

There is something powerful about being chosen. Of the millions of eggs in your mother's ovary, and the billions of sperms from your father, it had to be that specific one plus one that formed you. Chosen. Destined. Isn't that a mind-blowing thought? God had a choice when He made you and He chose you. And the same choice He has, He has given you.

But what have you done with your choices? You chose a man who only wants what he wants and when he got it left blithely without so much as a backward glance. And you crumbled as though life ceased the moment he said goodbye. So you've made a wrong choice; but you can still make right ones.

Instead of crying yourself to sleep every night, you can tuck your four-year-old child into bed and read her a story. Instead of leaving her to your sister's care because you're too heartbroken to attend to her, you could look at her as your source of inspiration; because she needs a mother and the choices you make today could affect her own someday.

It's hard to fathom the depth of your pain. I could walk in your shoes for a day and still not grasp the intensity of the soul-splitting hurt you must be feeling. You have the right to be angry at your ex-husband. He broke the promise he made you. You are allowed to grieve this loss. He CHOSE to walk away from you to be with another woman. The rejection is heartbreaking, I know. To NOT be chosen is one of the most painful things anyone can experience.

Imagine how your child would feel at your own rejection of her. She's still too young to understand it; but can you see the look on her face years from now when she discovers her worth to you? The pain that is yours now could be hers someday if you don't make the right choices moving forward.

Your child thinks you're an angel. She tells me how beautiful and kind you are and how she misses you every time you're away. She tells me how she feels bad when you feel frustrated at the mess in your house, how you can't find her shoes, her ankle braces, or her eyeglasses. She tells me how she wishes she could walk around better so she can help you. This child thinks the world of you. She chooses you every day. Please choose her.
