Minding Moments

Moments are not created equal. Some are ordinary, mundane ones that you will forget in an instant; others take your breath away. Some you create, others magically happen. But a single one of these seemingly prosaic periods of time punctuated by seconds could change the course of one’s life forever.

We don’t always have the luxury to notice these moments when they come, either because our present situations preoccupy us with thoughts of the future or we’re often too involved in life’s daily hustle; but even in the fast pace of a big city life, pockets of magic can be had. We simply need to pay attention. A smile on a packed subway platform. A wave of thanks from another driver at a busy intersection. A nod, a greeting, a look.

Allow these moments to change the landscape and atmosphere around you and live in them, fully, wholeheartedly. Breathe in the air of those few seconds and relish it. Don’t let your mind wander. Be present for each snippet of conversation, each glance. Because you often won't recognize their significance until they’re gone.
